Julius A. Winterfeld, 75, of Ireton died Saturday, July 22, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ireton with the Rev. Warren Prochnow officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton.

Winterfeld was born June 12, 1925, at Sioux Center, the son of Theodore and Edna (Rehder) Winterfeld. He was baptized in July 1925 and confirmed May 1939 at Peace Lutheran church, rural Sioux Center. He graduated from Sioux Center High School. He married Jo Ann Vande Hoef March 10, 1947, at the parsonage of Peace Lutheran Church The couple farmed near Ireton for 28 years.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a member of the Ostomy Club of Sioux City and a soil consultant for Brookside Labs.

Survivors include his wife; children, Judy Woehler of Wayne, Nebraska, Sharon and Fred Peters, of Littleton, Colorado, Diane and Darold Jamtgaard of Emmetsburg, Paul Winterfeld of Tea, South Dakota and Lori and Ral Longworth of Montevideo, Minnesota; brothers, Ed and Phyllis Winterfeld of Ireton, and Duane and Marlene Winterfeld of Sioux Center, other family members Carroll and Betty Winterfeld, Merlyn and Doris Winterfeld, Marlene and LaRue Wegner; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson,.
