FRED N. RIES, FORMER LE MARS RESIDENT, DIED IN OMAHA LAST WEEK

Fred N. Ries, former LeMars resident, died at his home in Omaha on Tuesday, April 24. Mr. Ries, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Ries, was born in LeMars in 1881 and grew to young manhood here.

While living in LeMars he was employed by the American Express company and was driver of the local express wagon for a number of years. At the age of 24 he moved to Omaha and was there promoted to messenger of the American Railway Express Company.

Deceased is survived by one son, Herbert, of Pocahontas, Iowa, two grandchildren and five sisters, four of whom live in LeMars: Mrs. Minnie Deviney, Mrs. Kate Barton, Mrs. Ann Marienau and Mrs. Dick Roberts and Mrs. Roy Hilker, of Paullina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother.

Funeral services were held in Omaha on Friday of last week.
