Cornelius Thomas Coughlin, 82, of Park Rapids, Minn., died Saturday (Feb. 3, 1990) at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids. He was a former longtime Kingsley area resident.

Funeral was at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) at Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis, Minn., with Rev. Daniel A. Babine officiating. Military rites were by the Menagha VFW. Burial was in the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard, Minn, under direction of/the Erickson-Cease Funeral home in Nevis.

He was born Oct. 10,1907, in Garretson, S.D., to Thomas and Catherine Coughlin. They moved to Pipestone County when he was a young boy and he grew up at Pipestone. He moved to Kingsley in 1928 where he worked as a farm hand for several years. He joined the United States Army in 1942, serving in England-France with an honorable discharge in 1945.

On Nov. 9,1943, he was united in marriage with Evelyn E. Johnson at El Paso, Tex. After his discharge from the army the couple remained in Kingsley until 1956, when they moved to the Hubbard Prairie, Minn, area where they farmed and
have since lived. He was a life member of the Menagha VFW and American Legion Sebeka berg-Nylund Post 456. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, the Nevis Senior Citizens and other various community organizations.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of Park Rapids; two sons, Dennis andwife Cheryle of Rosemont, Minn; and Allen and wife Elaine of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; a sister, Lucy Dahms of Flandreau, S.D; three grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and three brothers.
