Funeral Services- Held Here Sunday Afternoon For Andrew Hanson
Andrew Hanson, a resident of Akron vicinity for nearly seventy years passed away at the Akron Hospital at, 12.'10'o'clock Sunday morning June 18,1939, where he had been receiving treatment following a strokeof paralysis a few days before. This illness, combined with the infirmities of advanced age, caused: his demise at the age- of 83 years, 9 months and 18 days.
Andrew Hanson, eldest son of Anders and Margaret Hanson, was born at Mora Parish, State of Falcum Sweden, September 7,1855. He came to the United States with two sisters in 1870. He accepted, employment in Omaha, Nebr., for two years and then came to Union county, Dakota- Territory where he farmed for forty-three years successfully. He endured all of the hardships and problems of the early pioneers. In 1915 he retired from active farming and moved to Akron, making his home here until his death. Mr. Hanson possessed a kindly and jovial nature and enjoyed a wide circle of acquaintances, who liked and respected him for his many good qualities.
He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, H. B. Hanson of Akron, Iowa; also by three nieces Mrs. Edith Peck, of Verdel, Nebr. Mrs. Roy Carlson and Miss Alice Hanson, of Akron, and two nephews Arthur Johnson, of Alberta, Canada and J. O. Johnson, of Decatur, Arkansas.
Two brothers, Olaf and Eric and three sisters, Margreta, Christene and Katie, preceded him in death.
The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the community. Mr. Hanson, or "Stub," as he was familiarly known by his associates, will be sincerely missed by them.
Funeral services were held here in the Christian church Monday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Zane. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
