George L. Kelly, 71, of Topeka, died Sept. 21, 2010.
George was born July 12, 1939, in Oyens, the son of Roy and Viola Kelly.
While serving in the USAF from 1957 to 1962, he married Britta Desbien Dec. 26, 1959. in Holton, Kan. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2009. After living in Topeka for 13 years, the family moved to Colorado, where George worked for the Rio Grande Railroad in Colorado. After leaving the railroad in 1984, he re-entered the car business until he and Britta retired in 1990. They moved back to Topeka in 2004.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and enjoyed working in his yard, cars, motorcycles, playing cards and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Britta Kelly; a son, Dan Kelly and his wife, Karen; two grandchildren, Preston and Amanda Kelly; brothers, Eldon Kelly and Ron Kelly, and a sister, Norma Dominick.
He was preceded in death by his son Patrick; and sisters, Dorothy Cook and Mary Kneip.
Family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka, Kan., 66614. A parish rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care sent in care of the funeral home.
