Dolores "Dee" Plueger, 74, of Le Mars, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at her home in Le Mars.

Dolores Mary Sweeney was born May 20, 1936, at Presho, S.D., the daughter of Sylvester and Veronica (Jacoby) Sweeney.

She began her education in Presho, S.D., and attended two years of high school at Mount Marty High School in Yankton, S.D., before graduating with the first class of Gehlen High School in 1954.

Dee was united in marriage to Eugene Plueger Feb. 14, 1955, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Dee worked as a bookkeeper for her husband for more than 30 years and continued doing books for her son, Mike when he took over the business. She also had employment with Designers Cove, French Manor, Hanstein Liquor and Jan Wagner Real Estate.

Dee was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and the St. James Altar Society.

Dee and Keg enjoyed spending time at their home at Lake Shetak, Minn., with family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, road trips to the "boat" with friends and spending winters in Arizona.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her husband, her five children, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Eugene "Keg" Plueger of Le Mars; five children and families: a son, Tim Plueger of Temecula, Calif., and his children, Shelia (Nick) Copple and Cooper Plueger; a daughter, Marla Kleingartner of Iowa City, and her children, Justin and Jenna Kleingartner; a daughter, Kim Clarey and her husband, Mike of Le Mars and their family, Casey (Krystle) Clarey and their son Gavin, Kyle and Kayla Clarey; a son, Mike Plueger of Le Mars and his daughter, Quincie Gray; and a daughter Brenda Hageman and her husband, Bret of Hinton, and their family, Matt (Elissa) Meylor and their daughter, Layla, Adam and Abby Hageman; four brothers, Jerry (Betty) Sweeney of Kennewick, Wash., Mike (WandaLee) Sweeney of Presho, S.D., Paul (Wanda) Sweeney of Presho, S.D., and Leroy (Helen) Sweeney of Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Martha Blake of Eden Prairie, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Gay Sweeney of Belle Fourche, S.D.; in-laws: Carol Drake of Spencer, Jackie (Eddie) Carson of St. Joseph, Mo., Don (Mabel) Plueger of Augusta, Ga., Ken (Connie) Plueger of Le Mars, Stan (Pat) Plueger of Le Mars, Armeda Freel of Gering, Neb., Sandy Dougan of Denver, Colo., Wanda (John) Mendez of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Sally Plueger of Le Mars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Veronica (Jacoby) Sweeney; her father and mother-in-law: John and Clairbel Plueger; a sister, Patricia and brother-in-law: Charlie Konzem; two brothers, Lawrence and Slyvester Sweeney; and brothers-in-law: Bill Blake, Ray Murray, Weymond Drake, Bob Plueger, and Jim Freel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Richard Reis officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen - Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary followed by a 7 p.m. vigil wake service. Visitations will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be Casey Clarey, Kyle Clarey, Matt Meylor, Adam Hageman, Justin Kleingartner, and Nick Copple. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters, Sheila Copple, Kayla Clarey, Abby Hageman, Jenna Kleingartner, Quincei Gray, and grandson, Cooper Plueger.
