Tom was a dairyman for many years and then went into raising black angus cattle and had a cow calf herd along with his son Mike. He also was a salesman and sold fertilizer for Terra Chemicals as well as seed corn for various companies.

After his retirement, he kept busy in his wood shop and tending his lawn. It was his pride and joy.

Tom was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus, for many years.
