Mrs. Steve (Ella) Gant, 82, Akron native and lifelong area resident, died Saturday (March 3,1990) at the Akron City Convalescent Care Center after a long illness.
Services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery at Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron. Visitation was held from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a.scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Catholic Daughters of America rosary, at the funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Terry Gant, Galen Gant, Steve Gant, Dave Baldes, Calvin Frazer, Dan Massari, Dan Gant, Tom Gant Pat Gant, Joe Gant, Brad Baldes, Terry McGarth and Joe Ada.
Mrs. Gant, the former Ella E. Lamoureux, was born July 20, 1907, at Akron, the daughter of Edward and Amelia (Rush) Lamoureux. She married Steven A. Gant January 7, 1929, at Akron. The couple lived in the Westfield, Hawarden and Akron areas all their married life. He died in 1969. She entered the Akron Care Center in December 1989. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Akron and Catholic Daughters of America, and a member of the Akron Senior Citizens and Craft room.
Survivors include three sons, Donald V. of Madison. Wise., Gerald E. of Bail win, Mo., and Charles F. of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter, Carol Baldes of Iowa City; two brothers, William of Akron, and Walter of Chappell, Neb.; two sisters, Edna Latham of Akron and Madelin Bay of Glenwood, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen; a son, James Milton; seven brothers, Nap, Charlie, Leonard, Clifford, Milford, Lovay and Loyd; and a sister, Eva.
