Fern Westadt, 68, Hawarden, died Monday (Feb. 12,1990) at her home in Hawarden.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden. Pastor Karla J. Kirkeby officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under direction of Porter-Dow funeral home in Hawarden.

Mrs. Westadt, the former Fern Gieger, was born Dec. 11, 1921 in Waterbury, Neb,, and graduated from the Allen, Neb. High School. She married Russell Westadt Feb. 16, 1946 in Sioux City. The couple lived in Akron, Sioux City, Chatsworth and Hawarden. She worked with her husband in the trucking business for 27 years. Mrs. Westadt was a member of the American Lutheran Church and Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Russell; a daughter, Mrs. Dick (Judy) Listen of Hawarden; her mother, Alta Homes of Wakefield, Neb.; a brother, V. C. "Barney" Gieger of Allen, Neb.; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Linda) Harper of Shreveport, La.; and two grandchildren, Michelle and Russell Listen, both of Hawarden.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gieger.
