Orris Harvey Welch, 49, rural Elk Point, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1990 unexpectedly at his home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point. Rev. Leslie Hernes will officiate. Congregational hymns "Rock of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art", will be sung, accompanied by LaVonne Klemme, organist. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Don Schurdevin, Russell Paulson, Garland Treloar, Richard Hansen, Ernest Halverson, and David Swanson.
Mr. Welch, was born Nov. 5, 1940 at Akron, Iowa to Orvilleiand Hilda (Hansen) Welch. He was a graduate of South Dakota State school of pharmacy in Brookings, S.D. He worked as a pharmacist for several years at Thorson Drug, before enlisting in the Public Health Service. He spent 20 years in Alaska in public health service, and was also in private business for several years. He was a member of Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Elk Point.
Survivors include his mother, Hilda Welch of Akron; one brother, Clayton and his wife, Carol, and a niece Lisa Welch, all of Akron; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orville.
