Shearon, Mildred I. 1918 - 1992

Mildred I. Shearon, 74, Sioux City, a former Elk Point, S.D. resident, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1992, at at Sioux City hospital of a brief illness.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Elk Point United Parish Church, with the Rev. Chandler Welch officiating. Burial was in the Elk Point Cemetery, under direction of the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point.

Mrs. Shearon, the former Mildred I. Cunningham, was born April 9, 1918 at Akron, Iowa. She graduated from the Akron High School. She married C. Frederick Shearon July 2, 1938 at Elk Point. They farmed in rural Winner, S.D. until 1944, when they moved to the family farm at Elk Point. Mr. Shearon died Oct. 8, 1981, in Sioux City. She lived on the farm until 1991, when she moved to Sioux City. She was a member of the Elk Point United Parish Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Cal (Norma) Whalen of Tulare, Calif., Mrs. Jerry (Dianne) Taylor of Batesville, Ark., and Mrs. Richard (Marjean) Gordon and Debra Shearon, both of Sioux City; her mother, Inez Cunningham, and a brother, Ralph Cunningham, both of Camino, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. Miles Cunningham.
