Ethel Lynn Begalske, 42, of Maynard, Iowa, died Oct. 26, 1992, at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis, of a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Begalske, the former Ethel Lynn Shedd, was born Aug. 29, 1950, at Akron, Iowa to Arnold and Ethel Bryson Shedd. She was baptized Jan. 14, 1962, at the First Baptist church in Akron and confirmed May 12, 1974 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye.

She attended country school in South Dakota before moving with her family to Iowa, where she attended school at Frericksburg. She graduated in 1968 from the West Central High School at Maynard. She married Milan Begalske Oct. 21, 1972, in Fredericksburg. He died April 4, 1980.

She received her B.S. degree in 1985 from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, and went on to receive training in respiratory therapy from Des Moines Area Community College. She was employed the past four years at the University of Virginia hospital in Charlottesville. In July 1992; she returned to Iowa to make her home with her brother in Maynard.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Maynard, where she was a member of the church choir. She also served on the church council in Virginia.

Survivors include one son, Joshua of Maynard; two daughters, Sherry Begalske of Charlottesville, Va., and Gayle Begalske, of Maynard; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Shedd of Hawkeye, Iowa; two brothers, Daniel of Lemont, Ill., and Rick of Maynard; and one sister, Mrs. Donald (Roxanne) Shappel of Cresco.
