Aneta Ledgerwood, 96, of Le Mars, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at her home.

Aneta Gertrude Porsch was born Sept. 14, 1913, on the family farm at rural Hinton, the daughter of Thomas and Helena (Schwartz) Porsch. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. She attended and graduated from high school in Moville.

Following high school, Aneta attended Buena Vista College at Storm Lake, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught country school for several years.

She was united in marriage to Guy Ledgerwood May 28, 1934. Guy and Aneta farmed near Kingsley until the mid 1960s when they converted part of the farm to a golf course, known as Brookside Golf Course. They operated the golf course until 1974. Aneta and Guy also operated Ledgerwood Tile and Ditching and Midwest Laminations in Kingsley.

When the couple retired, they moved to Le Mars. Guy died in May 1991.

Aneta will be remembered for her generosity and kindness. She and Guy were very supportive of family and extended family. She loved children and would often say, "there are no bad ones." She loved to play with the grandchildren and later the great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Schera Kraft of Le Mars; three grandchildren and families: Deborah Fiedler and her husband, Floyd of Le Mars and their children, Heather Fiedler and her friend, David Lenninger and their family Tresa, Chance, and Kyra, Justin Fiedler and his wife, Stacie and their family Justine, Riley, and Jashua, and Zachary Fiedler and Ashley Marks, Terri Brown and her husband, Jeff of Le Mars and their family Coleton and Sydney Brown, and Brad Kraft and his wife, Staci of Le Mars and their family, Danielle Magnuson and her husband, Tom and Brandon Kraft; two nephews, Bill Wilson of Kingsley and Ralph Wilson of Sioux City; and a niece, Juanita "Sis" Arnes of Montgomery, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helena (Schwartz) Porsch; husband, Guy Ledgerwood; a son-in-law, Richard Kraft; two brothers, Bill Porsch and Herman Porsch; two sisters, Frieda Roepke and Edna Harrison; and three nephews, Marvin, Marlin, and Earl Wilson.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Tim Geitz officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitations will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present to greet friends after 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Fiedler, Jeff Brown, Justin Fiedler, Zach Fiedler, Coleton Brown, Tom Magnuson, David Lenninger, and Jesse Kellen.
