Larry Charles Smizer, 50, Chatsworth, died early Thursday morning May 28, 1992, in an automobile accident north of Akron.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Schroeder Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Hansen, pastor of the United Methodist church in Hawarden officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.
Military services were conducted by Hoschler American Legion post 186 of Akron.
Pallbearers were Karl Oehlerking, Gerald Nygard, Jim Wakeman, Mike Brewer, Wayne Radtke, and Kenneth Waag.
Mr. Smizer was born Aug. 26, 1941 at Akron, Iowa to Charles and Leona (Orton) Smizer. He was married to Ruth Farber, Nov. 14, 1966 in Sioux City. He graduated from the Akron high school in 1960 and served in the U.S. army from 1960 to 1962. He was a lifelong truck driver in the Akron and Hawarden areas.
He is survived by two sons, Tracy and Claire, both of Chatsworth his; his mother, Mrs. Leona Smizer of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Steve (Linda) McKee of Tony, Alabama, and June Reed of Hawarden; a special friend, Cathy Owens of Chatsworth; two nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Edna (Fletcher) Smizer; his father, Charles; and nephew Michael McKee.
