Dr. Frank L. McGillen, 76, of Grosse Pointe, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, died Tuesday (April 14, 1992), in St. John Hospital in Detroit, of respiratory failure.
Services were held in St. Philornena Church in Detroit. Burial was in Resurrection cemetery in Clinton township, under direction of Kaul Funeral home, St. Clair Shores.
He graduated from Wayne State University, where he was on the diving team, and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Detroit Dental School. He married Catherine Mary Conway of Westfield, la., June 28, 1948, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Westfield. Dr.. McGillen was an eastside Detroit dentist for 43 years before retiring in 1986. He was also an associate professor of dental materials at the University of Detroit for 30 years until 1978. He was a World War II navy veteran and a member of the Michigan Dental Association, Knights of Columbus, Senior Men's Club of Grosse Pointe, and the Grosse Pointe Boat Club.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Patricia, Colleen Goodwin and Peggy Brennen; four sons, Michael, Thomas, Timothy and Sean; and six grandchildren.
