Lester George Brown, 78, retired custodian in Le Mars Community schools, died Wednesday morning at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of about eight months. He had been at the hospital since Nov. 4.

He was born Sept. 6,1893, in Le Mars and lived here his entire life.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mauer funeral chapel in Le Mars with Rev. Tom Balm officiating. Burial will be in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Brown and Edna Zimmerman were married May 2, 1917, in South Sioux City. He was the son of Benjamin and Ida Wolfert Brown. His wife died Nov. 15,1962.

Survivors are a son Robert Brown of Remsen, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
