Beresford Republic: One of Beresford's older residents, James Gale, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 27, at the Sacred Heart hospital in Yankton from infirmities and old age. He had been ill about two weeks.
Mr. Gale had reached the age of 86 years., 2 months and 29 days at the time of his passing.
He was born at Galena, Illinois, to Mary Gaohagan and William Gale. He married Mary Foley. November 28, 1897, at Akron, Iowa, arid to this union five children were born, namely: Thos. and James, of Beresford; Blase, of Sioux City, Iowa; and Sgt. Robert, who is serving overseas; also a brother, John, of Akron. A daughter Lauretta, preceded him in death in 1929, as did his wife in 1944.
The Gale family lived near Akron and for the past thirty-five years have farmed near Beresford.
Services were held this (Thursday) morning from St. Teresa's Catholic Church and burial was mode in the family in the St. Joseph Cemetery at Emmet, The funeral mass will be said Wednesday, April 4, at the St. Teresa Church. Pallbearers were James Andrews, J.P. Kribell, James Farley, Lew Kribell, Ike Brunner and Geo. McIlbenna.
