Oral V. Hill, 77, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 14, 1992, at his home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery in Akron, under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers,, were Paul Lamoureux, Ed Greehleaf, Lyle Jacobs, Julius Wilier, Edmund Blum, Arden Johnson, Ted Wilier, and Les Lorensen.

Mr. Hill was born Dec. 12, 1914, at Lamberton, Minn., son of Arthur and Laura (Wenholz) Hill. He married Elnora Bertrand July 21, 1937 at Lamberton. She died Dec. 15, 1945. He married Janette Guenther April 7, 1947, at Sioux Falls. She died Sept. 1, 1984. Mr. Hill worked in lumber with the Fullerton Lumber Co. for several years, living in Sioux Falls, Cherokee, Sioux City and Rochester, Minn., before retiring to Akron in 1972.

He was active in the Akron Senior Citizen Center in Akron, and an avid golfer. He also served as little League coach for several seasons, and in 1979 his team won the Little Sioux conference. In his spare time, Oral also did woodworking and plastic canvas needlepoint. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ron (Juanita) Schmitz of Oshkosh, Wise., Mrs. Jim (Mary) Jordan of Renton, Wash., and Mrs. Paul (Lisa) Stoner of Peterson, Iowa; three sons, John and his wife, Pat, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Michael of Quimby, and Patrick and his wife, Pamela of Paul-Una; a special friend, Dottie Clark of Akron; three brothers, Norman of Still water, Minn., Claire of Worthington, Minn., and Dale of Rochester, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, David Schmitz.
