Edward J. Hoschler, 74, ofSherwood, Arkansas, a former Akron area resident, died Nov. 24, 1992, at his home. The body was cremated, arranged by Roller Owens Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Nov. 29 in the home.
Mr. Hoschler was born Jan. 13, 1917, in Union County, S.D. to parents, William and Mary Henrietta (Burke) Hoschler. He grew up in the Akron area and attended both the parochial and public schools in Akron. He served in the U.S. navy from 1936 to 1940, mainly the China area. Mr. Hoschler returned to the Akron area. He married Bonnie Sykes, Dec. 14, 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1943 they moved to Richmond, Calif., where he was employed in the shipyards until his entry into the U.S. army in December 1943. He served two years in the European sector. After the war the family lived in the Akron area until 1951, when they moved to Ontario, Calif. Mr. Hoschler was employed at Kaiser Steel in Fontana, Calif., as an expediter, and retired after 28 years of service. Upon retirement they moved to Springdale, Arkansas in 1979 and then to Sherwood, Arkansas in 1990 to be near their daughter, Julie and family. Edward was a Catholic and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Sherwood; a son and his wife, Edward 'and Kathy Hoschler of Deer Park, N.Y.; a daughter and her husband, Julie and Carl Redelis of Sherwood; one sister, Olive Callahan of Elk Point; two brothers, Leo Hoschler of Sacramento, Calif, and OK. Hoschler of Onatario, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and a new grandchild to arrive in February.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janice Moreno; two sisters, Frances Hoschler and Rosalyn Cheney, and three brothers, William, Stephen and Lowell.
Mr. Hoschler's wish was to have his ashes scattered over the Pacific Ocean. This will be done at a later date. A memorial service will be held in California for family members and friends. Memorials may be made to Hospice.
