Merlin G. Utesch

Merlin G. Utesch, 66, rural Ireton, died Sunday, July 26, 1992, at Floyd Valley hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, rural Akron, with Rev. Stephany Sanborn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars.

Mr. Utesch was born Oct. 8, 1925 in Johnson township, rural Merrill, son of Charles and Viola Utesch. He married Dorothy Haage Nov. 9, 1945 in Akron. He was a farmer and businessman, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran church, rural Akron, where he currently was a council member. He served in the military service during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Oleson-Halweg Post 125, American Legion of Merrill.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Curtis, and his wife, Diane Utesch, and Stanley Utesch, all of Le Mars, and Roger and his wife, Sharon Steve of Le Mars and Carol Dumas and Chuck of Akron; a brother, Lowell, and his wife, Margaret Utesch, of Worthington, Minn.; a sister, Charlene Betsworth, Of Merrill; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson,Daniel Utesch.
