Cluett Chamberlain
Cluett G. Chamberlain, 75, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, April 7, 1992, at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services were Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic church in Akron. Monsignor Gerald Lyon officiated. Monte Bauer and Larry Simeon were lectors. Music included "Sing Of Christ", "King Of Love My Shepherd Is", "Song Of Farewell, and "On Eagles Wings", with St. Patrick's church choir singing. Pat Bernard was organist. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Akron, with graveside rites by Hoschler Post 186, American Legion. Arrangements were under direction of Schroeder funeral home, Akron. Pallbearers were Stephanie Osterhaus, Sharmin Renee Frickey, Brad Young, Brian Nelson, David Simeon, Curtis Nelson, Kevin Simeon, Paul Simeon, Mark Simeon and John Simeon.
Mr. Chamberlain was born June14, 1916, in Akron, Iowa, son of Hugh and Grace (Stick) Chamberlain. He married Lucille Klinkner April 19, 1938 in Scotland, S.D. She died April 1, 1983. He married Lena Andresen Oct. 5, 1985, in Akron. He was employed by Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Akron for many years and also worked for Farmland Industries for many years. He lived in Scotland, S.D., and the Akron area for many years before moving to Lake City, where he retired. In 1983 he returned to Akron and moved to Le Mars in 1985. He had an avid interest in Ford Thunderbirds and he also liked to fish and read. Mr. Chamberlain was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Senior Centers at Akron and Le Mars, and a former member of the Akron American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathy Talley of Home Homeland, Calif., Phyllis and her husband, Larry Simeon of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Judy and her husband, Monte Bauer of Modesto, Calif.; a step daughter, Beverly and her husband, Jerry Nelson of Le Mars; a sister, Elizabeth in Illinois; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and 11 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ruth.
