Mrs. Katharine Harms, 70, widow of prominent Plymouth county banker H. J. Harms and a director of Le Mars Savings bank, died Saturday at Sacred Heart hospital after a two week illness. She had been hospitalized a week.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. (CST) Tuesday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church at Brunsville. Rev. Cyril Jandrey will officiate, Burial will be in the Brunsville Cemetery under the direction of Mauer's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harms, the former Katherine Marie Johlfs, was born April 18, 1894, at Iona, Minn. She married Henry Harms Dec. 27, 1916, at Slayton, Minn., and moved to Brunsville where her husband was president of the First State bank for 40 years.

Her husband died In 1954 and she moved to Le Mars in 1960 making her home at 127 Ninth St. SE. Mrs. Harms was director of the Le Mars Savings bank at the time of her death.

Although she moved to Le Mars, Mrs. Harms kept her membership at the St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the Ladies Aid.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gordon L. (Theresa) Mennen of Le Mars, Mrs. Robert (Harriette) Nedell of Denver, and Mrs. Max (Phyllis) Swancutt of Northridge. Calif.; one son, Harold H. of Brunsville; one brother, Barney Johlfs of Sioux Falls; and 18 grandchildren.

BANKS WILL CLOSE TUESDAY FOR RITES
In memory of Mrs. Katherine Harms, Le Mars Savings bank.

Farmers State bank at Merrill and First State bank at Brunsville will not be open Tuesday -— the day of funeral services for Mrs. Harms.
