Mrs. Ray Hoffrnan Sr.

Mrs. Ray Hoffman Sr., 83, of Westfield,
Iowa, died Thursday (Dec. 10,
1987) in a Sioux City hospital after a
brief illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday in the First Church of Christ,
Akron: Rev. Elmer Hodge officiated.

Burial was in Pleasant Valley cemetery,
Adaville, under the direction of Schroeder
funeral home, Akron.

A quartette of granddaughters, Donna
Mount, Diane Feldhacker, Doris
Snow, and Darlene Cornish, sang
"Psalm 23" and "How Great Thou
Art", accompanied by Carol Harris, organist.

Active pallbearers were Ron Hoffman,
Steve Hoffman, Don Hoffman,
Jr., Rick Hoffman, Jim Hoffman, Larry
Searls, Jonny Van Wyk, and Kenny Van
Wyk.

Honorary pallbearers were Buzz
Leekley, Dwayne Waddell, Ron Feauto,
Orville Feauto, Harry Kroll, Charles
McMahon, Wayne Radtke, and Carl
Hasenbank.

Mrs. Hoffman, the former Nellie
Marie Godfrey, was born April 17, 1904,
to Bert and Ida Walker Godfrey, in
Sioux City. She married Ray Hoffman
Dec. 29,1923, in Sioux City. The couple
farmed all their married life in the
Westfield area and retired in 1976.

Survivors include her husband; four
sons, Ray Jr., Kenneth and Lloyd, all of
Westfield, and Donald of Merrill; three
daughters, Ida Searls of Westfield,
Goldie Friske of Akron, and Mrs. John
(Betty) Van Wyk of Hawarden; a sister,
Pearl Stevens of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren
and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her
parents; two sisters, Florence Hauser
and Goldie Hoffman; two brothers,
Charles and Walter Godfrey; a grandson,
Ronald Searls; and a granddaughter,
Mary Lee Hoffman.
