Victor Mechnig Dies
In Sioux City Hospital

Victor C. Mechnig, 78, former
Remsen man who lived in Sioux
City since leaving there in 1928,
died in a Sioux City hospital
Tuesday, Nov. 2. He had been
sick five months.

Mr, Mechnig was born Feb.
2B, 1876, in Tama county, Iowa,
later lived in Le Mars and for a
number of years operated a dray
line in Remsen in partnership
with Kd Kirchoff. He married
Mary E, Earnest in 1909, in Rem-
son. She died in Sioux City in
1928.

Mr. Mechnig was a member of
The Restaurant Workers union,
Local 387. He had retired eight
years ago.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs.
William Drum and Mrs. Stephen
McCann, both of Westphalia,
Kan; a daughter, Mrs. Nina
Gessland of Sioux City; a grand-
child and a great-grandchild.
