Lois Jean Frank, 78, of Le Mars, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars in Le Mars.

Lois Jean Campbell was born May 14, 1932, in Akron, the daughter of Truman and Doris (Kanago) Campbell. She graduated from Akron High School and continued her education at Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb. Lois Jean would later earn a bachelor of arts degree in education from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. After earning her degree from Wayne State, Lois Jean taught school in Charter Oak.

On April 16, 1955, Virgil and Lois Jean Campbell were united in marriage at Denison. The couple made their home in Charter Oak and later Denison where Lois Jean taught kindergarten. They moved to Cherokee for a brief time and Lois took a position as a teacher in Larrabee. The family relocated to Storm Lake. Lois Jean worked as the children's librarian at the Storm Lake Public Library. Virgil and Lois moved to Le Mars in 1998. Virgil died Dec. 24, 2002.

Lois Jean had been a member of the Baptist Church in Denison, Cherokee, Storm Lake and Le Mars. She played the organ at all of the churches. Along with many church activities, Lois Jean enjoyed painting and drawing, music, writing, and camping.

She will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Lynelle Hodgson and her husband, Rodney of Le Mars; a son Kevin Frank of Ida Grove; five grandchildren, Roy Hodgson and his wife Mindy, Whitney, Nick, Joel and Kiley Frank; and a brother-in-law Richard Frank and his wife Hilda of Denison.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Virgil.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. Rev. Jason Larson will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Akron. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends. There will also be one hour of visitation on Friday prior to the funeral.
