Obituary

Otto William Popken

Otto William Popken, 74, Luverne, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 26, at his home. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran church with Rev. A. C. Schmalz officiating.

Burial was in the Craig cemetery under direction of the Engebretson Funeral home, Luverne.

Mr. Popken was born Oct. 3,1896, at Akron. He married Emma Marienau Dec. 13,1916, at Spencer.

The couple farmed near Akron for 14 years and near Craig for 17 years. They moved to Rock county in 1950 and retired to Luverne in 1968.

He was a former director of the Plymouth Cooperative.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Darrel of Luverne; two daughters Mrs. Kenyon (Luella) Karr of Ireton, and Mrs. Gerald (Sandra) Winter of Luverne, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; six brothers, Richard of Chatsworth, John of Akron, Fred of Ireton, George of Wilmington, Del., Elmer of Hudson, SD., and William of Le Mars; four sisters, Mrs. Will Rohlfs of Randolph, Neb., Mrs. Earl Lamoureux of Akron, Mrs. John Dirks of Le Mars, and Mrs. Harold Bloomquist of
Maclay.
