Barton Ostrihonsky dies of injuries from Feb. 8 in crash near Westfield
Barton E. Ostrihonsky, 22, of Sioux
City, who was critically injured in a
three-car accident near Westfield Feb.
8, died Saturday (Feb. 28,1987) at a
Sioux City hospital of his injuries.Ostrihonsky was the driver of a car
that attempted to pass another car on
Iowa Highway 12, about 2 1/2 miles
south of Westfield.Just as his car started to pass the second,
both of which were northbound on the
highway, Ostrihonsky found another
vehicle coming southbound.Ostrihonsky drove his car into a
ditch to avoid the southbound car and
in so doing hit a farm drive, went airborne
and rolled upon landing.A passenger in his car, Steven Hernandez
of Sioux City, has been improved
from critical to fair condition
at Sioux City Marian Health Center.Funeral for Mr. Ostrihonsky will be
at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Meyer Brothers
Colonial Chapel.Msgr. Richard V. Sweeney, pastor
of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill
Cemetery at Anthon.Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Monday with the family from 7 to 9
p.m. and a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
in the funeral home.Mr. Ostrihonsky was born Oct. 19,
1964, at Sioux City. He attended Westfield
Community School and East
High School. He worked in construction
for Long Lines the last six months.Survivors are his parents, Richard
and Donna Ostrihonsky of Sioux City;
two brothers, Joseph and his twin,
Burton, both of Sioux City; three sisters,
Toni Dwyer of Sioux City, Ronnette
Kinchen of Tickfaw, La., and
Rashelle Katseres, of Sergeant Bluff;
maternal grandmother, Emma Haring
of Sioux City and paternal grandmother,
Pauline Provancha of South
