Westfield Young Man Dead
After Car Slams Bridge

Patrick Port, 19, rural Westfield,
died Saturday morning (June 15,1976)
in a Sioux City hospital shortly after his
car struck a bridge north of Stone Park
in Plymouth county.

According to the Iowa highway
patrol, the accident occurred at 12:15
a.m. about 10 miles north of Stone Park
on Plymouth county road K-18. Port
was alone in the car.

He reportedly died of head injuries in
the 1-car accident. State trooper J.
Gamble reported the driver apparently
fell asleep at the wheel. He died about
three hours later at the hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in
St. Boniface Catholic church, Sioux
City: Rev. Sylvester Micek, OFM, will
officiate.

Burial will be in Sioux City Calvary
cemetery. The rosary will be recited at
8 p.m. Monday, in Meyer Bros. Colonial
chapel.

Mr. Port was born July 22. 1956, in
Sioux City. He was graduated from
Westfield high school and had been
employed by Ebasco as a timekeeper at
Port Neal.

He was a member of St. Catherine's
Catholic church of Westfield.

Survivors are his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Theodore Port of Westfield; a
brother. Richard of Westfield; three
sisters, Susan, Karen and Christie, all at
home; maternal grandmother, Mrs.
Joseph Schuetz of Sioux City and
paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Orville Port of Westfield.
