Mrs. Louis Hoffmann
Jennie M. Hoffmann, 70, 1120 South
Marshall, Sedalia, Mo., former Akron
resident, died Friday (Sept. 23,1988) at
Bothwell Regional Health Center.Mrs. Hoffmann, the former Jennie
M. Van Asma, was born March 28,
1918, to Louis and Martha Smid Van
Asma in Le Mars, Iowa. She married
Louis P. Hoffmann of Merrill, May 27,
1946 in Le Mars.She attended St. Joseph parochial
school in Le Mars, where she graduated
from high school. She was employed for
many years at Vander Meer Bakery in
Le Mars. She and her husband moved to
Akron in 1947 where they operated a
garage business, and later in Westfield.
They farmed in Johnson township, until
moving to Sedalia in 1966.Mrs. Hoffmann was a member of St.
Patrick's Catholic church and the
church's altar society. She was also a
member of the Bothwell Regional
Health Center women's auxiliary and a
member and board member of Sedalia
Open Door.She is survived by her husband, Louis
of Sedalia; a son, Richard Louis Hoffman
of Reston, Va.; two daughters,
JoAnn Hoffmann of Olathe, Kan., and
Mary Elizabeth Kehl of Smithton, Mo.;
two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Regina)
Roeser and Mrs. Marvin (Helen)
Susemihl of Le Mars; and four grandchildren.Funeral services were held at 9:30
a.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at St. Patrick's
church in Sedalia. Rev. John Wolf and
Rev. Edward Hoffmann, a brother-inlaw,
officiated. Burial was in the
Calvary cemetery at Sedalia under
direction of the Mclaughlin funeral
chapel in Sedalia.She was preceded in death by her
parents, and a brother, Lee Van Asma.Akron Register Tribune
