Aged Resident of Merrill Succumbs

James Ahern, Pioneer Farmer, Dies At
Sioux City Hospital of Heart Disease

Death Friday afternoon claimed James
M. Ahern, 68 years old, a farmer
residing near Merrill, Ia. The deceased
accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Ahern, to a farm near Merrill 56
years ago. On February 27, 1890, Mr.
Ahern married Miss Marie McDonald
In Sioux City.

Surviving are his widow and two sons
John and Floyd who live on the farms;
two brothers, John and Patrick of
Merrill; and three sisters Mrs. Frank Mont-
agne and Mrs. Louis Montagne who live
near Sioux City, and Margaret of Merrill.

One of the largest funerals ever held
in Liberty twp. was that of Jas.
Ahern. He was well known throughout
the county and had many friends. He
came here with his parents when but
a child and lived here ever since. His
death caused by blood poisoning was
a shock to all who knew him.
