ENGLE, BEAUBIEN

Hudson (Hud') Engle, 80, Valley,
Neb., former resident of Sioux City,
died Thursday (Dec. 6, 1979) at a
hospital in Omaha after a seven-week
illness.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in
St. Joseph Catholic church at Elk Point,
S.D. Rev. Leonard Fox officiated.
Burial was in Calvary cemetery at
S. Sioux City.

The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sun-
day at the Berkemier Funeral Home.
There was a scripture service at 8 p.m.
Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at
Elk Point followed by a 4th degree
Knights of Columbus scripture service
and honor guard by Garrigan assembly
of Sioux City.

Mr. Engle was born Nov. 27, 1899, at
Burbank, S.D.

He married Esther Beaubien Aug. 21,
1923, at Jefferson, S.D. They farmed in
the Burbank-Garyowen area until 1937.
when they moved to Yankton. They
moved to Sioux City in 1956. She died on
Oct. 13, 1958, in Sioux City. He moved to
Akron and to Elk Point in 1974. He
moved to Valley, Neb. about a year ago.

He was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church at Elk Point the
Garrigan Assembly Knights of Columbus
4th degree. Fraternal Order of
Eagles of Sioux City, and Moose lodge
and the Elks lodge, both at Yankton. He
had been active in bowling leagues.
Survivors are two sons, Norbert of
Oxon Hill, Md. and Paul of Rapid City,
S.D.; two daughters, Mrs. Rita Burke
of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Mrs. Lyle
(Dolores) Hirschman of Omaha; two
sisters, Mrs. Vern (Hazel) Christensen
of Vermillion and Mrs. Bernard
(Lucille) Markus of Akron; 25 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren.
