Life's End

JOHN W. HOFFMAN
DIES AT NOON TODAY
AT THE AGE OF 87

John W. Hoffmann, 87, longtime
Le Mars resident, died at
noon today at his home, 45 Seventh
Ave. SE. He had been in
ill health for several months.

Funeral services are pending
at the Luedtke funeral home.

Survivors include his wife; a
son, Jack P. of Phoenix, Ariz.;
two daughters, Mrs. John R.
(Xaveris) Kelley, Westfield, and
Mrs. Dolores Woll, Le Mars;
23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren
and a sister, Mrs.
Hubert (Mary) Nemmers,
Mitchell, S.D.

Rites Friday

Funeral services for, John W.
Hoffmann, 87, Le Mars, lifelong
county resident, will be Friday
at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic
church in Le Mars. Rev.
Edward Hoffmann, a nephew,
will officiate at last rites.

Burial will be in St. Joseph
cemetery, Ellendale, under direction
of the Luedtke funeral
home.

Friends may call the funeral
home after 2 p.m. Thursday and
the rosary will be recited at 8
p.m. that evening.

Mr. Hoffmann was an honorary
life member of the Knights
of Columbus and Catholic Order
of Foresters.

Casket bearers will be Frank
Betsworth, Joe Woll, Harold
Gralapp, Orville Nemmers,
Floyd Hall and Frank Holzmann.

Mr. Hoffmann died Tuesday
noon at his home after a long
illness.

He was born Feb. 24, 1879,
in Johnson township near Le-
Mars. He farmed until 1944
when he retired and moved to
Le Mars.

His parents were the late John
P. and Katharine (Dolan) Hoffmann.
His marriage to Katharine
Wiltgen took place Oct.
21, 1913 in Le Mars.

Survivors are his wife; a son
Jack P. of Phoenix, Ariz.; two
daughters, Mrs. John R. (Xaveris)
Kelley, Westfield, and
Mrs. Dolores Woll, Le Mars; 23
And children; three great-grandchildren
and a sister, Mrs.
Hubert (Mary) Nemmers, Mitchtell,
S.D.

He was preceded in death by
five brothers and seven sisters.
