Melvin Dearinger, 84, Laurel, Mont., formerly of Pierson, died Monday at his home.
Funeral services will be Friday at the Pierson United Methodist church at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Forest M. Lay officiating. Burial will be in Grand Meadow cemetery near Washta under the direction of the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home, Kingsley.
He was born Nov. 12, 1885, in Plymouth County and farmed in Cherokee County. He worked for the Farmers elevator at Pierson until moving to Montana in 1938. He worked in an oil refinery in Montana. He married Mabel Barkley March 16, 1908, in Cherokee County. She died several years ago.
He was a member of the Methodist church in Laurel and was a 50-year member of Rutland lodge 607, AF&AM, at Pierson.
Survivors are four daughters: Mrs. Kenneth Walker of Laurel; Mrs. Wayne Harrison of Washta; Mrs. Lloyd Mahnke of Pierson; and Mrs. Leonard Ferrin of South Fork, Colo.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
