Mrs. Susan Mason
Among Early SettlersMrs. Susan Mason, 94, believed to have been the oldest resident in the Kingsley community, died Friday night at her home in Kingsley.
Mrs. Mason was born in Albany, Wis., August 12, 1848. She came to Iowa after her marriage to Hugh Mason, June 14, 1872. They were among the first settlers in the south
part of this county and for many years lived on a farm six miles west of Kingsley. Mr. Mason was a prominent farmer and community leader in early days and Mrs. Mason
was widely known. She was a charter member of the Methodist Church in Kingsley.She leaves three sons and two daughters, William H. Mason of Kingsley, John O. Mason of Mitchell, S. D., and Herman Mason of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and two daughters. Mrs.
S. D. Wilmers of Moorhead, Minn., and Miss Pearl Mason living at home.The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Kingsley Sunday afternoon. Rev. M. L. Metcalf officiated at the service. Interment was made in the Kingsley
Cemetery in charge of the Dickison Funeral Home.Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel
