HOLD RITES FOR MRS. MARY E. CLAREY
Well-Known Akron Farm Woman Dies Nov. 8th After Long IllnessMrs. Mary E. Clarey passed away in a Sioux City Hospital on Wednesday, November 8, 1950, after a long illness, at the age of 79 years, seven months, and five days.
Mary Elizabeth Boden was born in eastern Iowa [Clayton County], April 3, 1871, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boden, to Union county, So. Dakota, where she grew to womanhood. In 1895 she married Thomas F. Clarey. They began homemaking on a farm south of Akron, where she had lived for fifty-five years. To their union three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas [August 31, 1935], and one son Harry [1898].
Left to mourn the departure of a kind and devoted mother are two sons, John Clarey, of Merrill, Ia and Clifford Clarey, of Akron, 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as a great many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9:00 in St. Patricks's Catholic Church in Akron, Rev. Fr. Chas. Ernst officiating. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons: Jack Clarey, of Elk Point; Alfred and Richard Clarey of Merrill; Thomas and James Clarey, of Sioux City, and William Clarey, of Akron. Burial was in the [St. Joseph] Catholic Cemetery here.

Mrs. Mary E. Clarey, 79, of Akron, Iowa, passed away in a Sioux City hospital on Wednesday, Nov. 8, after a long illness. She had been a resident of the Akron community for 55 years.
Survivors include two sons, John Clarey of Liberty township, and Clifford, of Akron, 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
