Former Resident of Vicinity Dies

Mrs. Phillip Lubben of Le Mars, 81, who for many years lived on a farm south of Hawarden, passed away Monday in the home of her daughter, Mrs., August Meske, in Akron, following a lingering: illness. She was an invalid four years and spent most of her time in a wheelchair

Brief funeral services were held in the Meske home Wednesday afternoon and the remains were then taken to Le Mars, where services were held in St. John's Lutheran church, with Rev. L. L. Belk in charge. Interment was in Grant township cemetery.

Tallke Marie Hinrichs was born in Reepsbolt, Germany, August 7, 1863. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. She left her homeland and came to America in 1884, locating at Le Mars. Here she was married to Phillip Lubben on February 27, 1885. To this union were born nine children. One son died in infancy, one son, Bernard, died in World War I, and another son, John, died on Christmas Day, 1934. Her husband died a week later and a daughter, Mrs. Catherin Renken, died in 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Lubben farmed near Hawarden for many years, but in 1918 they retired and moved to Le Mars. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Lubben continued to make her home in Le Mars until 1942, when she made her home with her children. She is survived by two sons, Henry Lubben and George Lubben of Sioux City, and three daughters, Mrs. C. H. Barinsky of Colome, S. D., and Mrs. August Osterthun and Mrs. August Meske of Akron. There are, 18 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren
