Gerhard Kock, 84, of rural Ireton, IA, died on Friday, August 4,1995, at the Akron (Iowa) Care Center.
Services were held on Monday morning, August 7, 1995, at St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, IA, Pastor Kathleen Kinney officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Mauer Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, IA.
Gerhard Kock was born on November 2, 1910, on the family farm in Elgin Township, rural Plymouth County, Iowa, to Ulrich and Anna (Lubben) Kock. He attended country school in Elgin Township and was united in marriage to Katherine Dommer on January 3, 1940, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. The couple farmed west of Craig for 55 years and moved to the Akron Care Center in early 1994.
Mr. Kock was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, and was active on the church council. He belonged to the Farmer's Co-Op of Craig, the Iowa Soybean Association, and the Plymouth County Farm Bureau.
He and Katherine enjoyed traveling and attending agricultural events.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rosemary and her husband Merlyn Johnson of Sioux Center, IA; and Donna Kock of St. James, MN; three grandchildren, Bonita and her husband Tom Heilman of Minnetrista, MN, Joel Johnson and his wife Kristi of Holstein. IA. and Sarah Johnson of Sioux Center; two brothers and their wives, John and Isle Nagel of Huntsville, AL, and Clarence and Gladys Kock of Le Mars; three sisters, Marie Janssen of Willmar, MN, Margaret and her husband Bernard Becks of Le Mars, and Irene Lee of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harm Kock.
Pallbearers were Ralph Klemme, John Becker. David Borchers, Bill Schlichte. Keith Asseln and Russell Schmidt. Honorary Pallbearers were all of his friends and neighbors in the Craig area.
