Dies at Hospital At the Age of 62
Mose Hendricks, Sr., 62, a resident of this vicinity most of his life, died last Friday morning (October 1, 1954) at the Hawarden hospital.
Mr. Hendricks had spent the past two years in California with some of his children and returned to Hawarden about two weeks before his death.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Barnard Funeral home with Rev. John C. Thorns officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery. Mrs. Ralph Gregg, Jr., with Mrs. Hal Shoemaker as accompanist, sang "In the Garden" and "0 Love That Will Not Let Me Go."
A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hendricks, he was born in Cherokee county March 31, 1892, and came to the Chatsworth vicinity when a boy. He married Miss Lena Ball of Hawarden December 14, 1914. She preceded him in death April 10, 1951.
After his marriage he farmed in this vicinity for a number of years. Later he moved to Hawarden living here a number of years.
He is survived by nine children, Mose, jr., and Glenn of Hawarden, Grover, Oliver, Theodore and Wendell, Hendricks and Mrs. Evelyn McDonald of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Leona De Vries of Turlock, Calif., and Ivan who is in the navy; four sisters and six brothers, Mrs. Maud Weiland, Mrs. Nora Skogman and Floyd and Verne Hendricks of Hawarden, Art of Bonesteel, S. D, Charles of Chatsworth, Jack and Everett of Alcester, Mrs. Vera McInnis of Sioux City and Mrs. Rena Jackson of Vermillion, S. D. and seven grandchildren.
