Ramona J. "Dolly" Morehead, 74, of Seney, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars following an extended illness.

Ramona Joyce Dobbert was born Oct. 10, 1935, near Le Mars, the daughter of Roy Frank and Jennie (VanVoorst) Dobbert. She attended country school near her home and later Le Mars High School.

She married Arvel Morehead March 23, 1952, in Le Mars. The couple made their home in Seney. Dolly was employed in the Le Mars Community School District's food service department for 28 years, retiring in 2004.

She was a lifelong resident of Seney, and she was a 58-year member of the Seney United Methodist Church, where she helped teach Bible School and serve communion, along with other church activities.

Dolly enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved her pets and other animals. She enjoyed being outdoors, including camping and boating, and was an avid flower gardener.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Arvel; two children, son Marty Morehead and his wife, Michelle; daughter Roxane Anderson and her husband, Craig; and four grandchildren, Kory Morehead, Lauren Morehead, Nathan Anderson, and Derek Anderson, all of Seney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Jennie Dobbert.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Seney United Methodist Church in Seney. Pastor Joshua Hansen will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home, of Le Mars. The family will be present to greet friends from 5-8 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service.
