Funeral services for Roy Swanson (76), who passed away In his home in this city On Saturday night, Oct­ober 9th, were held on Tuesday, October 12th, in Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. O. F. Pittack conducting the service.

Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery with the Dow Funeral Home in charge.

Roy Edwin, son of Peter Swan­son and wife, Erika Nicholina. nee Holmstrom, was born at Alcester, Union County, South Dakota, on August 5, 1895. He was baptized in Union Creek Lutheran Church, the Rev. L. E. Ljolinder, pastor. On April 24, 1918, he was united in marriage with Selma Ella Ball in Trinity Lutheran Church of this city, the Rev. George Steinkamp performing the ceremoney. On
June 27, 1943, he became a communicant member of the congregation in the rite of Confirmation, with the Rev. C. A. Burkhart officiating.

The deceased spent most of his live in farming. For fifteen years after his marriage he farmed west of Akron, in Union County. S. D. In 1933, be began to farm five miles south of Hawarden. In 1966 he moved into the city of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include, beside his wife, Selma, one son, Gordon of Sioux City; two grandsons, Craig and Scott. also of Sioux City; and two sisters: Mrs. Elna Lambert of Akron. Iowa and Mrs. Ruth Wallen of Bellingham. Washington.
