Mrs. Roy E. Swanson, age 78, of Hawarden passed away at a Nursing Home in Sioux City on May 16.

Funeral services were held on Saturday May 19 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. O.F. Pittack officiating with burial in the Grace Hill Cemetery.

She was born Selma Ball on Jan. 7, 1895 at Ireton. On April 24, 1918 she was united in marriage to Roy E. Swanson at Hawarden. They lived on a farm in Union County, South Dakota before moving to a farm southeast of Hawarden. Mr. Swanson preceded her in death on October 9, 1971. They moved into Hawarden in 1968.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son Gordon R. Swanson of Sioux City , two grandsons; 2 brothers Ewald Ball of Le Mars and John Ball or Prinville, Oregon; one sister Mrs. Sharp (Marie} Allen of Hawarden.
