Adeline G. Janssen. 88. of Le Mars died Wednesday, October 8, 1997 at the Brentwood Good samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. October 11 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. IA. with the Rev. Doug Dowling officiating. Burial was In St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Janssen was born December 2, 1908, in Grant Township. the daughter of G.W. and Johanna (Miniets) Popken. She attended country school in Grant Township.

She married Theodore Janssen on October 4. 1928. The couple farmed in Plymouth and Sioux Counties for several years. He died December 24, 1952. She later made her home in Craig until moving to Le Mars in 1985. She entered Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in February 1994.

She was a member of St. John Evangelical Church where she was active in the Women's Group and the Le Mars Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include a son and his wife- Donald and Jannene of Fullerton. ND; six daughters. Deloris and her husband Harold Harms and Bev Hultquist all of Brunsville, Della and her husband Tony Brouillette of Le Mars. JoAnn and her husband Richard Kovama of Merrill. Betty Janssen of Aurora, CO and Barb and her husband Allen Hamersma of Hawarden; a daughter-­in-law. Mary Pageler of Craig; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie Rohlfs of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Johnson: three brothers, George. Ernest and Arthur Popken; a son, Marvin; three grandsons, Paul and David Harms and Jamie Kovama; and a son-in-law, Brian Hultquist.
