JOHN JENNINGS
A native of LeMars, John LeRoy Jennings, 72, of Long Beach, Calif., died July 14, 1984, at the home of his son, David, at Riverside, Calif.
Mr. Jennings was born Nov. 18, 1911, at LeMars. Following his marriage to Helen Alvina McPerry of LeMars in 1935, he farmed in rural Plymouth County before moving to California. He became a painter and formed the Trico Paint Co., Long Beach.
Mr. Jennings was a member of Elks Lodge, No. 888, of Long Beach and was a member in the Long Beach Painter’s Union.
A memorial service was held July 21, at Rose Hills Chapel in Whittier, Calif., with the brother, Rev. George Jennings, officiating. Internment was at the Rose Hills Memorial Gardens, Whittier.
Of the seven children born to Jennings and his wife, an infant son, his parents and wife preceded him in death. Six children survive including Jeanette (Mrs. Boyce T. Davis) of Woodville, Miss.; David and Gary of Riverside, Calif.; Delores (Mrs. Paul Williams) of Lakewood, Calif.; Patricia Lynch of San Diego; and William of Long Beach.
He is also survived by his wife Marjorie, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother George of LeMars; one sister, Myrtle (Mrs. Ernie Pries) of Hamner; and a half-sister, Leona (Mrs. William Cuff) of Phoenix, Ariz.
