Military Honors For Dr. Rubel
Last Rites For Well Known Doctor
Last rites were held Friday afternoon in the Mauer chapel for Dr. H. F. Rubel, who died in the veterans hospital in Des Moines Wednesday after a brief illness.
Rev. G. O. Thompson of Hildreth church conducted the service.
The pallbearers were R. S. Bowers, R. M. Figg, Matt Levins, Harry Condon, Louis Lemke and Jos. Sheehan.
Services at the graveside were conducted by members of Wasmer Post, American Legion, in charge of Carl Witt, commander.
Harry Francis Rubel was born here November 2, 1878, and grew up on the Rubel farm north of town and after his school days attended the University of Illinois and graduated in medicine.
In his younger days he practised at Struble and later went to Waverly, Iowa, where he practised several years and was coroner in Bremer county for three years.
Dr. Rubel served in the World War with the title of major and was attached to the medical corps in the 34th Division and was in the Argonne campaign where American troops saw bloody fighting.
After the war the doctor returned to LeMars and practised here and at places in Nebraska.
For the past years he was in Cedar Rapids.
He leaves two brothers, Will. J. Rubel, of LeMars, and Dr. George C. Rubel, of Buckeye, Arizona.
