Johann Karl Ludwig Freiberg, son of Johann Frederick Christian Freiberg and Sophia Dorothy Christiana Bringe Clavenow Freiberg was born April 26th, 1869, in Germany. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on May 17, 1869.Mr. Freiberg was married to Bertha Eggebrecht in Germany on December 3, 1892. They were the parents of seven children and sailed for the United States in 1906.
They settled in Sioux County for awhile, then moved to Plymouth County. They farmed in the Craig and Struble areas and in Grant township. They retired and moved to Struble in 1939 and in 1948 to LeMars. Mr. Freiberg has been making his home for the past year and a half with his children. For the past eleven months he has lived in his own house on the Charley Plueger farm in Grant township. He was 83 years, 8 months and 11 days of age.
Mr. Freiberg, who has been in failing health for the last year, suffered a stroke the 5th of November and has been bedfast since. He became very sick Friday morning and passed away Sunday evening at 11:20 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 1953, from the Christ Lutheran Church in Grant township.
Burial will be in Reading township, Sioux County, with Rev. Richard Fruehling officiating. The Sioux Center burial association has charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Anna Martfield, of LeMars, Mrs. Freda Plueger of LeMars, and Mrs. Rose Urban of LeMars; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters in Germany.
Preceding him in death were his wife and five children, two in Germany, and John, Frank, Albert Freiberg and Emma Plueger.
