Sioux Center News, Sioux Center, Sioux, Iowa, USA April 5, 1978

Bert Zomermaand, 68, of near Hudson, died Sunday, March 26, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church near Sioux Center, Iowa. The Rev. John Kroon officiated and burial was in the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Mr. Zomermaand was born July 7, 1909, at Ireton, Iowa. He married Pearl Van Kley, January 4, 1933, at Rock Valley. They farmed in the Rock Valley area most of their lives.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Elmer of Sioux Center and Arnold of Inwood; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Tilstra of Twin Bridges, Montana, and Miss Nelma Zomermaand of Lakewood, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; four brothers, Richard of Orange City, Henry of Sioux Center, Gerrit of Struble, and John of Holland, Michigan and 10 sisters, Mrs. Maas VanBeek and Mrs. Jennie Koel, both of Sioux Center, Mrs. Case Vander Wege and Mrs. Bert Vander Wege, both of Holland, Michigan; Mrs. Oebke Niemeyer of Inwood; Mrs. Martin Mesman of Ripon, California, Mrs. Gerrit Topp of Cerritos, California; Mrs. William Wissink of Ankeny, Mrs. Case Van Hofwegen of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Mrs. John Boeve of Visalia, California.
