Death Claims Albert Winterfeld
Albert John Winterfeld, a former resident of Plato township, passed away at his home at Madison, Minnesota, Saturday, August 31st, from injuries which he suffered August 1 while repairing a hay track in the barn., The ladder on which Mr. Winterfeld was standing slipped and he fell a distance of 15 feet, injuring his neck and spine. It was known from the first that his injuries were of a serious nature, but later he rallied and seemed to be improving until a few days preceding his death when he suffered a relapse. Funeral services were held at Madison, the following Tuesday with Rev. Simonson in charge. His remains were then brought to Plato Township and services were held on Wednesday at the Peace Lutheran church with Rev. Beyer and Rev. Simonson in charge. Interment was made in the burial plot at the church.
Albert John Winterfeld, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Winterfeld, was born on a farm west of Sioux Center August 1, 1890, and so was just past 50 years of age at the time of his death. He lived in Plato township until 1912 when he moved to Rock Rapids and farmed and in 1916 moved to Madison, Minnesota, where he farmed until he passed away. He was baptized and confirmed in the Peace Lutheran church in Plato township. He leaves to mourn his death his aged parents, 6 brother and 7 sisters. The brothers and sisters are Mrs. Amelia Hamann, Clear Lake, S.D.; George, Ernest and Julius, Forest Grove, Oregon, Charles of Madison, Minnesota; Mrs. Lizzie Rockman of Marshall, Minnesota; Mrs. Ella Klohs of Ely, Iowa, Emil of Sioux Center; Mrs. Emma Groth and Miss Lillian Vogel of Pipestone, Minnesota; John Jr. of Verndale, Minnesota; Mrs. Hilda Grey of Sioux City and Mrs. Harriet Landhuis of Rock Valley
