Clifford John Campbell, 79, of Le Mars, died Saturday April 21, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Clifford was born May 15, 1927, at Le Mars, the son of Henry and Minnie (Thiesen) Campbell. He grew up in the Le Mars area and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Schools. He married Mary Frances Henrich on July 13, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars. Following their marriage, the couple farmed for their entire married life in the Le Mars area.

Clifford was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and an Honorary Life 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council #1466.

Clifford was a hard worker and enjoyed farm life, helping his neighbors, deeply appreciating their help, playing cards, bowling, fishing and Gehlen fund raising. He was the greatest, most gentle and kind grandfather.

Clifford will be dearly missed by his wife of 58 years Mary Campbell of Le Mars; five children: Cathy Burns and her husband Joe of Lindale, Texas, Dan Campbell of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., David Campbell and his wife Terri, Dean Campbell and his wife Eileen and Judy Lubben and her husband Darwin, all of Le Mars; seven grandsons; 11 granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Campbell of Le Mars; and two sisters, Marlys Harms of Le Mars and Mary Ann Riley and her husband Joe of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son in infancy; a granddaughter Sara Campbell; two sisters, Gladys Bridgford and Henrietta "Snook" Campbell; and two brothers: Richard and Clifford's twin brother Clarence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.

Visitation will be anytime after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m., a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m.
