Kevin Traurig 52 of Cape Coral, Florida passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 in the Heritage Park Care Center at Fort Meyers, Florida after a valiant fight with colon cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Kevin Richter as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wasmer American Legion Post #241 of Le Mars. Visitations will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Kevin Patrick Traurig, the son of Adolph and Margaret (Waite) Traurig, was born January 22, 1957 in Elkton, Maryland. Kevin moved to Le Mars, Iowa in 1960 with his family. His earliest memories are of Le Mars where he attended Gehlen Elementary School. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1967 where he later graduated from Sioux City North High School in 1975. Kevin enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 and upon his discharged moved to Dubuque, Iowa.

Kevin pursued many interest before settling on pool construction as part of the business team with his brothers Adolph and Donald. He worked with his brothers in Dallas, Texas, but they all eventually moved to Florida as the real estate boom drove up the demand for their business.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Margaret Traurig of Dubuque, Iowa; his father, Adolph Traurig of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, Patricia Markevicius of Westmont, Illinois; 4 brothers: Buddy of Cape Coral, Florida, Michael of Grinnell, Iowa, Tom of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Robert of Bloomfield Township, Michigan; three nephews and two nieces; and many friends.

Kevin will be joining his brother Donald and three sisters, Susan, Mary Ann, and Mary Margaret in heaven. May he rest in peace.
