Mrs. Groenemeyer (Gronemeyer) Dies at LeMars

Mrs. F. J. Groenemeyer(Gronemeyer), 63, eldest sister of Henry Marienau of Hawarden, died Sunday at the Sacred Heart hospital in LeMars following an illness of about a month. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the St. John’s American Lutheran church in LeMars. Rev. L.L. Belk officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at Craig.

Carolyn Marienau, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marienau was born at Ireton on July 15, 1893. She lived at Ireton until 1907 when she moved to Nebraska. From there she moved to Plymouth county and was married to Fred J. Groenemeyer (Gronemeyer) at Ireton on December 18, 1912. They lived on a farm in Plymouth county until 1952 when they retired and moved to LeMars.

Survivors beside the widower include two sons, Lyle of Merrill and Wendell of Ireton; three daughters, Mrs. Loris Gable of Akron and Mrs. Velma Dreckman and Mrs.ValJean Hazel both of LeMars; six brother, Henry of Hawarden, Walter of Duluth, Minn. Otto of Norwalk, Calif. Alvin of Mankato, Minn,, Carol of Austin, Minn., and Paul of Blue Earth; six sisters, Mrs. Anne Wahlrabe of Mankato, Minn,, Mrs. Mabel Reinke of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. Esther Popken of Akron , Mrs. Viola Weyen of Beresford, Mrs. Leone Borchers of LeMars and Mrs. Wilma Larson of Amboy, Minn., and 13 grandchildren.
